200hr Registered Yoga teacher training

Do you want to become a yoga teacher or deepen your own practice? Would you like to immerse yourself in practice where you can fine tune your asanas but also dive deeper into the teachings, history and philosophy of Yoga to set you apart from all the many other yoga teachers in the world? Would you like to build a solid foundation in creative class sequencing, vinyasa asana, meditation, breathing technique, devotion, yoga philosophy, restorative yoga, diet and nutrition? Do you want a Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) class that is small and focused on you where you are not one of 20+ people needing this individualized attention in this big next chapter of your life? Do you want to leave a YTT knowing more than just 1 class sequence and format that 1 type of yoga studio teaches so that you are able to teach at many studios and to many types of students?

Mind Your Body Oasis’ Vinyasa/Flow & Gentle/Yin Teacher Training is a great next chapter in your life as this program differentiates itself in that it is also a wellness, health and nutrition program that teaches YOU how to create creative sequencing.  We strongly believe that the practices of yoga, self care regimen, and a solid foundation of nutrition and diet provide a platform and a tool to achieve and believe in yourself and your dreams. This training will be as unique and special as it will be practical. You will learn how you can apply all that you learn directly to becoming a yoga teacher (if that is what you desire) or how to live the healthy life of a yogi more fully in your existence. Everyone at The Oasis is focused on you, your growth, your knowledge and building a community that can be your Oasis…your home.




Yoga Wall Training Information

The Yoga Wall allows one to feel a yoga pose without the weight of their body, thus feeling what the asana should feel like. It also allows students to hold yoga poses longer with better alignment, and therefore to get more benefit out of their practice. Amanda Shipe (trained by Bryan Legere, founder of the Yoga Wall) will lead Yoga Wall Teacher Training to teach you how to properly and safely use the Yoga Wall to teach Yoga Wall Group or Private Classes*




100 hr Yin Teacher Training

This curriculum emphasizes the balance between Eastern (ethereal) and Western (material) sciences. With an in depth exploration of meditation, subtle anatomy and physical anatomy learn to teach the subtle qualities of Yin Yoga. Using lectures and guided practice you will develop your own strategies for teaching and working with students to guide them to listen to their body. The deeper you go with your training and self-exploration the more you can help students learn from their own bodies to create a deep tissue massage with their mind.

*** No previous experience required, this training is suitable for beginners to Yin or Yoga in general, those who just want to deepen their practice and/or for those experienced with Yin who want more insight to teach.

TJ’s Yoga story began when he received a book, the Tao Te Ching, as a gift from his sister 18 years ago. The book poetically explores ideas that resonated with him then and continue to guide him today.

Several years ago TJ’s journeys finally led him back to Taoism via Yin Yoga beginning with Bernie Clark’s 60 hour Yin training in Vancouver. Next, he studied with Corina Benner in her 30 hour Yin training in NYC. After that he found Stephanie Calhoun and took her 100 hour Yin training in New Brunswick. TJ liked Stephanie’s teachings so much he chose to pursue his 200 hour Yoga teacher training with her. From there he continued with her 100 hour Chakra training and 100-hour Restorative Yoga training, completing his 500-hour training in 2015. In November of that year TJ completed a 30-day solitary self-guided meditation retreat at Milarepa Center in Vermont.

With an MFA in art and 6 years as a grade school art teacher, TJ has a deep appreciation for the journey of self-exploration that is essential to learning. That paired with traveling, reading countless books, and over a decade of meditation, TJ decided that the inward journey would be his focus. He began seeking out teachers to deepen his understanding and go beyond the limits he had reached on his own. He took up residence at CAVE in Brooklyn NY, a Butoh Dance and performance space, where he began to study movement with several visiting teachers from Japan. During that time he also began practicing Shaolin Kung Fu and Tai Chi with Sifu Shi Yan Ming, a 34th generation Shaolin Temple monk. Soon after he traveled to San Francisco to study Zen Calligraphy with Kazuaki Tanahashi, a teacher of Zen Buddhism. When possible, TJ also attends lectures and teachings offered by HH The Dalai Lama, including the Kalachakra Mandala teachings that were offered in Washington DC in 2010.

Most recently TJ went to Kripalu Center in Massachusetts to broaden his training and completed the first part of a Thai Yoga Massage certification with Sukha Wong.




Thai yoga bodywork aka “Lazy Man’s Yoga” is for everyone

The well-being of your family, friends, and community can be permanently uplifted by your choice to share compassionate touch, which is why we have developed MYBO Sensorial Thai Yoga Body Work Technique. Amanda is a Yoga Teacher and Thai Yoga Body Work Practitioner so this technique combines many of the assists and stretches Yoga Teachers can do (thus is a perfect additional training for Yoga Teachers to add to their teaching skill set).


No Prerequisites for level 1

Traditional Thai Yoga Body Work is performed on a mat on the floor through comfortable loose clothing. It is an accessible form of body work, combining meditation, stretches, acupressure/compressions, reflexology and energy movement.  You don’t have to be an expert to produce outstanding results. The MYBO system makes learning easy and this workshop shows you how to tap into your own innate abilities to give a sensational massage. Learn how to deliver complete 60, 75, 90 or 120 minute sessions.
